Hesston Fire/EMS is accepting applications for the position of full-time Paramedic/Firefighter. Full-time employees do not have a residency requirement; however, preference will be given to those living in or near Hesston.
Qualified applicants must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license and Kansas Paramedic certification at time of hire. National Firefighter I and II certification is preferred. However, training for fire certifications can be provided with certification completion within one year of hire. Candidates must pass a background check, a department physical assessment and a drug screen.
Hesston Fire/EMS offers competitive hourly wages with built-in overtime, starting at $50000/annually D.O.E. Excellent benefits including 90% paid single/family health, dental and vision coverage, KPERS retirement, paid vacation, sick leave and holiday pay. Employees also receive $30/month phone stipend as well as a life insurance policy.
Hesston Fire/EMS employees are provided paid monthly fire and EMS trainings with CE hours at no cost. All recertification fees are paid. Staff also receive a KEMSA membership.
Department responses include approximately 700 EMS and 200 Fire requests for service per year. Hesston is located 35 miles north of Wichita and 50 miles south of Salina along the I-135 corridor. Hesston Fire/EMS is a progressive combination department that provides EMS and fire/rescue services to a population of approximately 5000 in over 75 square miles of Harvey and McPherson Counties.
This position will work weekdays, 24 hours on and 24 hours off, following a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule on week one and Tuesday, Thursday on week two.
